Disaster recovery
Most businesses are heavily reliant on the information they store on their computers and any data loss could prove to be catastrophic. An important element to a business is continuity - disaster recovery planning and business continuity go hand in hand.
We cannot prevent natural disasters or burglaries but we can reduce the time to get the business back to where it was before the disaster happened. This may be a local solution (backups to tape or failover servers) or remotely hosted (on-line backup, dedicated servers or computing clouds). The most important thing is to select the most appropriate solution for the type of business.
Security
A security breach, as with a disaster, can be catastrophic for the company. There are many reasons a hacker may want to hack into a corporate network; company secrets, IP, or perhaps a dispute or grudge. This could come in the form of a denial of service attack (where the perpetrator bombards the network or web-site with multiple requests) access to the network through stolen username or password (using packet sniffers) or can be as simple as a computer theft.
It is important not only to secure the network using tools such as firewalls, it is also important to implement policies such as regular password change, secure password management or asset management.
Backup
Backups have enabled companies to recover from a disaster such as a burglary (see above) with minimal disruption. A good backup strategy can save a business from disaster and there are several very efficient options available now that Internet speeds have improved.
We will analyse your business technology and deliver the most appropriate backup in the form of tape or removable drive (suitable for single laptops or desktops), tape (suitable for companies with their own file server) or online backup.
